GU: At Sony’s booth at Tokyo Game Show 2009 were a number of PSP games. So many in-fact that Sony opted for a ticket system to keep some sanity in the booth, instead of a set of individual lines. LittleBigPlanet PSP was one of the titles on display among other first and third party titles at Sony’s booth, so when Gaming Union took its turn at the ticket counter, pouring over Japanese images of PSP game logos like we were at an ice cream shop choosing flavours, LittleBigPlanet PSP was one of our first choices.

Cambridge Studio talked to GameSpot during their live E3 show about LittleBIGPlanet for the PSP. With the limitations of being connected online with PSP, it has raised flags if Online play would be implemented into the portable version. Right now as it stands, there is no Online capability, but Ad-Hoc capability in the handheld version.

Browsing through Newegg deals for the PC and then to the gaming section. While checking up on the price of LittleBIGPlanet for the PS3 came up with two results, of course the PS3 version and the Playstation Portable version. Newegg is listing that Sony’s Do-It-Yourself platformer will be dropping on the Playstation Portable on December 8th, 2009. How legit is this date? Time will tell. A November or December release seems like a good time to release this game for PSP users as it is the Holiday season. If LittleBIGPlanet for the PSP is released simultaneously and/or around the PSP Go! launch would be a viable option to sell more units of each product.

The Leaked Qore episode for June has been leaked and revealed a new PSP SKU and some details about LittleBIGPlanet for the PSP. Here’s a first look at LittleBIGPlanet for the Playstation Portable & GO! is going to look like. Of course, there is no HD goodness but you can tell this game will look pretty damn good and you know it will be polished. LittleBIGPlanet on the GO will be available via download from the Playstation Store. You can bet that you will be able to pick up a game voucher in store to get it to your handheld. This seems like it will be the second title on the PSP that will have In-store and digital download methods of purchasing the game, first being Patapon 2. View the video after the JUMP!
Worst news has come to the LittleBIGPlanetNation! LittleBIGPlanet has been delayed indefinately due to a song on the level Swinging Safari. The user who brought this to attention is solid_08, posting this on the Official PlayStation Europe Forums. Now, don’t go crazy over him about this just yet. He does not want to delay the game from it’s release date in your region, but suggests that a patch be made online immediately. Whether how hard or easy it is for Media Molecule to come up with a solution depends how easy the game was coded. Which should not be that hard for Media Molecule since their game is based on customization.
EDIT: Oh hey, they already have a patch done and also an updated master disc waiting for pressing! Sony will be releasing new info about the new release dates soon. Stay tuned.
EDIT2: That was fast, LittleBIGPlanet will ship out the week of October 27th.
SCEE:
During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.
We will confirm the new launch date shortly.
EDIT:
As some of you may have noticed, LBP has been slightly delayed in some territories. At MM we were as shocked and dismayed by this as anyone – shellshocked and gutted. We can’t wait for you all to get playing and creating!
We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes. Obviously MM and Sony together took this very seriously. LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), we prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks. They assure us that they are doing everything in their power to get things straightened out as fast as possible, and will announce dates soon.
Apologies to everyone excited to play the game and I can assure you that when it arrives, it will be worth the wait! We want everyone to be able to enjoy the game, and this tweak should help – we’re just gutted it couldn’t be sooner. MM continues to work hard to support the game too. We know that LBP will be something that you can enjoy for a long time to come, when all of this is forgotten and all that remains are thousands of incredible levels and creations to play, create and share.

We get asked the question “what’s the name of the music track you’ve used in that thar video” a lot.
An awful lot.
So, in an effort to take the strain off of our overflowing inbox, this post contains a definitive rundown of all the music in all of the trailers that have existed thus far (that I know about – cut me some slack
. All of the music listed here appears in LittleBigPlanet – you will hear it in the Media Molecule created levels which come with the full version of the game, and you’ll be able to collect them as you play through those levels (if you’re clever enough to hunt them all down!) and then use them in your own creations.
A few points to note. There have been plenty of videos created by Sony or even by third parties which have used library music that does not feature in LittleBigPlanet – don’t make the assumption that because it has appeared in a video that it will appear in the game! If it’s not listed here then I don’t know what the music is and have no way of finding out. This is not a definitive list of all the music in the game – this is just a few of the tracks that have happened to be used in videos. LittleBigPlanet features 136 minutes of music, 2 hours of which you’ll have access to. That’s a mixture of licensed linear tracks, original linear tracks, and original interactive tracks. The original music in the game was written by the marvellous Mat Clark of Sonica Studios, London, the delectable Daniel Pemberton and the modest me.
OK here goes:
Adam of G4’s XPLAY spent time with Level Designer, Daniel Leaver of Media Molecule on the creative possibilities of one this Fall’s most anticipated games of the year. Do you like your levels dark? Light? Or something in between, LittleBIGPlanet’s level creator allows you to do as you wish. Somewhere near, Art Director Kareem Ettouney spent some time with Adam on how climent can be a factor. Forget the client, you want the footage. Well you can see part one of XPLAY’s special after the jump.
