LittleBIGPlanet 2 Confirmed for 2010

For those who are subscribed Game Informer. You may have noticed that the cover for June features the Gears of War 3 crew but also features another huge character, the lovable SackBoy on their quest to spread more Play, Create, Share love.

The sequel that fans have been waiting for will be treated with lots of new features and emphasis this go around with SackBoy and the crew at Media Molecule. As if you didn’t know LittleBIGPlanet was all about creating but this time around you will get the feel of lots of customization. If you have been following ModNation Racers, you will be familiar with that heavenly expressed feature. What can you customize? That is your HUD. Giving you lot’s of possibilities for different game modes on various type of level creations. An example would be a health bar for a fighting game and/or adventure type game.

As you can expect for a sequel, you will see improvements to the A.I, physics, and graphics. Now, things that gamers that played the first go around would want faster loading times in game and online as that would get kinda out of hand sometimes.

What can you expect for the storyline is based on periods of time and not based on country like the first iteration of the game. EVERYTHING you have downloaded from the PlayStation Store, whether it is Free or Paid DLC, will transfer over to LBP2.

LittleBIGPlanet 2 has less of a focus on platforming altogether and will lessen the fear for amateur level creators to create new content. Just as the MGS Pack introduced the paintball gun, you will be blessed with a grappling hook.A new tool you are blessed with is called, direct control seats and it can control Sackbots as well.

Everyone knows vast majority of levels have you PRESS R1 to do so and so action. Mark Healy created a car out of rubber wheels and a bottle and placed a direct control seat in it. After doing all of that, he brought up an interface that resembled a PS3 controller and assigned commands to buttons. A few examples was assigning the SIXAXIS tilt for forward and reverse and to make the horn sound off you would press X. Direct control seat’s control scheme is instantly accessible and you can attach it to only to whatever part you want on your creation to control.

Sound effects in LittleBIGPlanet 2 will not be limited by what ships with the game and/or DLC. You are able to record your own sounds and voices and then attaching to characters or objects. Magic Mouth will not make a return to the sequel.

Every LittleBIGPlanet 2 player will receieve their own profile on LBP.me and it will display your activity feed and previews of their own stages.

That was some of what was revealed in the latest Game Informer issue and we will post more info regarding the sequel as we find out.
