For the past year it was known that LittleBIGPlanet was going to be released on BluRay Disc in retailers around the world. But some had doubt that there would be a PSN downloadable version. Bits Bytes Pixels (BBP) got in touch with Kyle Moffatt of Sony Computer Entertainment Canada to clear things up. More after the jump.
Kyle:
“The game will be available at retail. The user gen content will be available on the PSN.
JS got in touch with LittleBIGPlanet’s United States PR, Scott Goryl, in which he reiterated what Matt told BBP and gave a little more PR spin.
Scott:
“LittleBigPlanet is a Blu-ray Disc product exclusively for PS3,”
“LBP will utilize much of PlayStation Network’s vast functionality for online and community features, but the game will indeed be distributed as a Blu-ray Disc.”
Right now I remember last year, I believe it was around the time of E3 07 someone asked if there would be both and I do remember the answer yes. Am I dreaming things? I don’t think so because I do remember that being asked and answered. The person who answered? I believe it was Alex Evans or the great Phil Harrison. If I ever find that piece I will update this article for those that do not believe
. This looks to be Sony pushing their format more and like to spin off “Only done on BluRay” mumbo jumbo.

Plans change all the time. It’s obvious that the game became too large for them to be able to put it on PSN without frying their bandwidth when everyone started downloading it over the net.
